A sewer line point repair is a short section of cured-in-place liner installed over one defect in an otherwise sound pipe. It seals cracks, open joints, and root entry points from the inside, typically covering two to six feet. It is the targeted version of full-length pipe lining.

Full CIPP lining rebuilds an entire run. A point repair rebuilds one part of it, using the same resin and the same curing process over a much shorter length.
The installation sequence is the same either way: clean the pipe, camera it to locate the defect precisely, position the saturated liner, inflate it against the wall, cure it, then camera it again to confirm. The finished sleeve is jointless where the old pipe was not, which is why roots cannot re-enter there.
It is sometimes called a sectional repair, a spot repair, or a CIPP patch. Those are the same thing.
