Water Leak Detection in Dallas–Fort Worth
- Licensed & Insured
What are the signs of a water leak?
Hydro jetting is a professional drain and sewer cleaning method that uses a high-pressure water stream (3,000–4,000 PSI for residential, up to 10,000 PSI for commercial) to scour the entire interior of a pipe. A specialized nozzle with forward and rear-facing jets is inserted into the pipe, blasting water in multiple directions to cut through grease, shred tree roots, dissolve mineral scale, and flush debris downstream.
Water Meter Running When Nothing Is On
Turn off all faucets and appliances, then check your water meter. If it's still moving, water is leaving your system somewhere you can't see.
Musty Smell or Visible Mold
Persistent musty odor near walls, floors, or ceilings signals trapped moisture. Mold can start growing within 24–48 hours of a leak beginning.
Discolored Walls, Ceilings, or Floors
Yellowish-brown stains on drywall or ceiling, or warping/buckling in flooring, indicate water damage from a leak above or below.
Wet Spots in Yard or Foundation Cracks
Unexplained soggy patches, unusually green grass in one area, or new foundation cracks may signal an underground or slab leak beneath your DFW home.
Sound of Running Water When Pipes Are Off
Hearing water flowing or dripping behind walls, under floors, or in the ceiling especially at night when the house is quiet points to an active leak.

Every day a leak goes undetected, the damage compounds. Water damage repair costs 5 to 10 times more than the leak fix itself.

How does leak detection work?
Acoustic Leak Detection
Slab & Underground
Best for: Slab leaks, underground water line leaks, main line leaks
Thermal Imaging (Infrared)
Wall & Ceiling Leaks
Infrared cameras detect temperature differences on surfaces caused by hidden moisture. Leaking hot water creates warm spots; cold water supply leaks create cool spots invisible to the naked eye. Non-contact, completely non-invasive.
Best for: In-wall leaks, ceiling leaks, radiant floor issues, insulation failures
Video Camera Inspection
Inside Pipes
Best for: Drain/sewer leaks, pipe condition assessment, pre-purchase inspections
Pressure Testing
System-Wide
Best for: Confirming leak existence, isolating which line is affected, whole-house assessment
The Cost of Ignoring a Water Leak
A pinhole leak dripping at one drop per second wastes over 3,000 gallons per year. In DFW homes with slab foundations, undetected slab leaks can undermine your foundation within months — turning a $300 fix into a $15,000+ structural repair.

Leak Detection Services We Provide
Slab Leak Detection
Locate leaks beneath concrete slab foundations using acoustic listening and pressure testing, without breaking concrete until the exact point is confirmed. Most DFW homes sit on slab, and a slab leak is the most common under-foundation failure we are called to find.
Underground Leak Detection
Find buried pipe leaks in yards, driveways, and under structures using acoustic ground microphones. Wet patches, unusually green grass, or pressure drops indicate underground leaks that need professional pinpointing.
Video Camera Pipe Inspection
HD camera inspection inside sewer, drain, and supply lines. Visually identifies cracks, corrosion, root intrusion, and joint failures. Essential before buying an older DFW home or after recurring drain issues.
In-Wall Leak Detection
Thermal imaging and moisture meters locate hidden leaks behind drywall without cutting into walls. Signs include bubbling paint, soft drywall, or musty odors near bathroom or kitchen walls.
Leak Repair & Pipe Relining
After detecting the leak, we provide targeted repair or trenchless CIPP pipe relining restoring the pipe from inside without excavation. Saves homeowners $20,000–$27,000 vs. traditional replacement.
Preventive Leak Inspections
Annual plumbing inspections for DFW homeowners especially homes built before 1990 with galvanized or cast iron pipes. Camera inspection every 2–3 years catches deterioration before leaks start.

Rich and his team repiped our 80 foot cast iron sewer line with the NuFlow product and cured with UV light so we were out of sewer service for only several hours vs. multiple days with an ordinary repipe. Not only that but it saved us having to dig a trench through our yard, tear up our driveway, and most importantly, disrupting the roots of 100 year old oak trees in our backyard. Thanks to this great product we were able to avoid all of that and repipe an aging sewer line before it turned into a disaster! Thanks Rich and team!Posted on Google![]()

As a seasoned real estate professional with more than 30 years of experience in the DFW area, I’m extremely selective about the companies I add to my preferred vendor list because my reputation and brand are attached to every referral I make to clients and colleagues. Based on my personal professional interactions, along with the positive feedback I’ve consistently heard from those I’ve referred, I can confidently say that Ryan King and the team at Nu Flo DFW are exactly the kind of professionals I look for. They operate with integrity, provide exceptional customer service, deliver quality work at competitive pricing, and offer niche expertise that brings real value. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to doing things the right way make them a company I confidently recommend.Posted on Google![]()

We had a pipe with roots growing into it brought up during the sell of our home. Initial plumber looked at the job and the sidewalks / retaining walls around it and said it could be 30k. Nu Flow offered their trencless process at just over 4, and when they saw that the pipe wasn't alighned well for that process, offered to do a standard repair at the same cost. The team came out and were able to spot exactly where it was, and dig out a minimal space needed. The whole team was truly great to work with through the process too. I can't recommend them enough!Posted on Google![]()

How does water leak detection work?
How do you detect a water leak under a slab?

Can a plumber detect a water leak?
Yes. A licensed plumber with leak detection equipment can find leaks that are invisible to homeowners. Professional plumbers use acoustic listening devices, thermal cameras, video pipe inspection, and pressure testing. DIY methods like checking your water meter can indicate a leak exists, but professional equipment is needed to pinpoint the exact location. Nuflow DFW uses all four detection methods, under Texas Master Plumber licence RMP# 46694.
Can thermal cameras detect water leaks?
Yes. Thermal (infrared) cameras detect water leaks by showing temperature differences on surfaces. They don’t see through walls they detect the temperature change that moisture causes on the surface. They are most effective for in-wall leaks, ceiling leaks, and radiant floor heating leaks. Nuflow DFW uses professional-grade thermal imaging as part of our multi-method detection approach.
