A cleanout is a capped pipe that opens straight into the sewer line. It usually sits in the yard near the house, where the line leaves the foundation. It gives a cable, a jetter, or a camera a direct path into the main line. With no cleanout, the entry point becomes a toilet flange or the vent stack. Every bend between there and the main line slows the job.
